ICE Plans to Buy Electric-Shock Gloves for Officers
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement plans to spend up to $20 million on gloves that can deliver electric shocks, with a target to purchase thousands by March. The Department of Homeland Security described the gloves as a “de-escalation device,” while critics said they could encourage agents to use more force. The manufacturer said the shock is usually effective in bringing individuals into compliance in less than three seconds.
