Ireland players snub Israel pre-match formalities in protest

Republic of Ireland players chose not to engage in pre-match formalities with Israel and will wear black armbands for the match in recognition of lives lost in the Gaza conflict. Head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson said the team "raised awareness worldwide." The Israeli FA commended the Irish squad for deciding to play, saying "Football has won."
