Maduro and Wife to Face US Drug-Trafficking Trial in June 2027

A US judge set a 1 June 2027 trial date for ousted Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores on drug-trafficking charges. The couple, held at a Brooklyn jail, appeared in court on Wednesday and have pleaded not guilty. The US recently allowed Venezuela to pay for their legal defence, which had been barred under sanctions.
