DOJ-California dispute over noncitizen ballots

The Trump administration's Justice Department has sought court orders to set aside or segregate California ballots it says are suspected of being cast by noncitizens, issuing subpoenas to election workers in Los Angeles and elsewhere. Federal judges and a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals panel have repeatedly rejected those requests, declining to step in to block or impound the disputed ballots.
