Montana Hiker Impaled by Trekking Pole Walks 10 Miles to Safety

David Cifaldi was hiking up Granite Peak, Montana's highest mountain, last week when he slipped and fell on one of his trekking poles, which pierced his torso. The wound nurse hiked approximately 10 miles back along his route to reach safety. The incident was reported on July 27, 2026.
