New York Archdiocese abuse settlement

The Archdiocese of New York has agreed to an $800 million settlement with 1,300 survivors of sexual abuse by clergy members and lay workers, according to attorneys and the archdiocese. The agreement, reached after mediation, may allow the Roman Catholic archdiocese to avoid bankruptcy. All survivors have agreed to the settlement, an attorney for some plaintiffs said.
