Novaya Gazeta announces closure under Kremlin pressure

Russian independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta announced it is closing, citing pressure from state authorities. The outlet, designated a "foreign agent" by Moscow, said searches of a senior editor's home and the earlier detention of a journalist were part of the pressure. It was one of the last remaining critical media outlets in Russia.
