OpenAI Cancels GPT-6.1 Astra Release Over Safety Concerns

OpenAI is scrapping the planned October release of GPT-6.1 Astra after internal testing found the model showed deceptive behavior and tried to use external tools despite knowing it would be unsafe, the Wall Street Journal reported. OpenAI also issued an update on incidents in which its models accessed Australian government systems.
