Abbas postpones Palestinian elections to September 2027

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has postponed Palestinian legislative elections planned for November 2026 to September 2027, according to a presidential decree. The joint presidential and legislative elections are now set for next year. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar accused Abbas of "fooling the international community" by cancelling promised elections as rumours of the postponement circulated.
