RAF Fairford suspected terror plot investigation
UK authorities are investigating a suspected terror plot targeting RAF Fairford, a U.S.-run air base in western England, following an incident on September 27. Two men have been re-arrested and charged with national security offences, with one accused of assisting a foreign intelligence service that police believe to be Iran's. Prime Minister Andy Burnham told parliament there were strong indications of Iranian involvement, and the government summoned Iran's ambassador. The incident led to the withdrawal of USAF B-1 heavy bombers from the base.
