U.S. Acknowledges Space Weapons Deployment

The United States has publicly confirmed for the first time that it has deployed weapons in space. U.S. Air Force Secretary Troy E. Meink made the acknowledgment, which follows earlier U.S. warnings that Russia and China were pursuing space weaponization. China warned against turning outer space into a "battlefield," and analysts cautioned the disclosure could accelerate an arms race in orbit.
