UK 'one in, one out' returns cost £56,000 each

UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood told MPs the government's "one in, one out" returns agreement with France costs about £56,000 per person returned. She defended the cost as comparable to or cheaper than a year of hotel accommodation and acknowledged the scheme has been difficult to scale up, with numbers still relatively small.
