US orders diplomats to leave Saudi Arabia over Houthi threat
The US State Department has ordered some diplomats and the families of US government employees to leave Saudi Arabia because of the threat of Houthi attacks on the Gulf kingdom. The department said Iran-aligned Houthis have "increasingly engaged in hostilities" against Saudi Arabia. Reports also emerged of similar withdrawals in the UAE, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain amid concerns about a return to conflict with Iran after US midterm elections.
