Trump doubles down on united Ireland support during Ireland visit
President Donald Trump is continuing a two-day visit to Ireland that combines official talks with Irish leaders and attendance at the Irish Open at his golf club in Doonbeg.
On Saturday, Trump said he would “love” to see a united Ireland and that unification “may as well happen now,” appearing to endorse constitutional change on the island.
On Sunday he reiterated his support, saying “many people agree” with his view and brushing off opposition from British political figure Andy Burnham to a referendum with the remark, “Everybody says that. Then things happen.”
Alexander Zverev beats Ben Shelton to win 2026 US Open
Germany’s Alexander Zverev defeated Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-2 to win the 2026 US Open men’s singles title, claiming his first US Open crown and his second Grand Slam championship after winning the French Open earlier this year.
The loss ended Shelton’s bid to become the first Black man to win the championship since Arthur Ashe in 1968 and the first American man to win the title since Andy Roddick in 2003.
Shelton had reached the final by beating Frances Tiafoe in four sets, while Zverev advanced by defeating Karen Khachanov in straight sets.
Wisconsin congressman escapes sinking plane after emergency lake landing
Republican Representative Tom Tiffany, who is running for governor of Wisconsin, survived an emergency landing when the light aircraft he was traveling in lost power while approaching Wausau downtown airport and came down on a lake late Saturday.
Tiffany was returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner. He and the pilot got out of the sinking plane, called 911 from on top of the aircraft, and swam to safety in shallow water. The forced landing was caused by a mechanical issue.
Trespasser stopped at Kamala Harris's Malibu home while couple away
A trespasser entered the Malibu, California, property of former Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday night and was stopped by law enforcement. Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not home at the time, and no arrests were made.
