Oakdale Resources Ltd (ASX:OAR) (FRA:F1S) has started site preparation work for a fully-funded diamond drill program at Lambarson Canyon Gold Project in Nevada, with drilling of high-grade gold targets set to start next week. Oakdale is targeting Carlin-style and epithermal-style million-plus ounce gold deposits in northern and southern Nevada, described as the ‘elephant’ country for world-class gold deposits. Drilling will get underway on September 7 and the first results of the drill samples are expected later in the quarter. Exciting milestone Given Nevada is the sixth-largest producer of gold globally and counts several multi-million-ounce mines such as Round Mountain (14 million ounces), Santa Fe (3.35 million), Cove McCoy (3.5 million) and Battle Mountain (80 million) it is understandable that Oakdale’s executive chairman Chris Gale is up and about: “The imminent drilling of Oakdale’s Lambarson Canyon is a very exciting milestone event for the company. “To finally have the drill bit turning in the ground of some of the most prospective gold country in the world presents an excellent opportunity to secure a potential significant gold project for the company. “The significant potential we have here for positive drill results could be transformational and add significant value to Oakdale and reward for our loyal shareholders.” Drilling schedule Local experienced contractor Drillrite LLC has been contracted to undertake the planned diamond drilling. The planned drilling campaign may comprise up to five diamond drill-holes at the Lambarson Canyon Project and will take about three weeks to complete. It will focus on testing gold targets, where initial fieldwork has identified high-grade outcropping gold mineralisation, along with a strong coincident IP resistivity and conductivity anomaly to the south of the outcropping mineralisation. Once drilling at the Lambarson Canyon Project is completed, the same drill team will mobilise south to the Douglas Canyon Project to begin drill testing additional high-grade gold targets. All drill samples will be sent for assay to ALS Chemex in Reno as soon as they are collected. Lambarson Canyon About 100 kilometres south of Winnemucca in the East Range, Pershing County, Lambarson Canyon has similarities with the 4-million-ounce Lone Tree mine deposit and the distal disseminated gold system at Trenton Canyon, both of which are hosted by Permian Havallah Group rocks. Initial field reconnaissance mapping, rock chip sampling completed in 2019, identified an area of high-grade outcropping gold mineralisation; with an individual float sampling returning 61.6 g/t gold and an outcrop channel returning 3 metres at 6.97 g/t within a broader 10-metre zone of anomalous gold samples. A subsequent IP geophysical survey over this area comprising two north-south oriented survey lines has identified a strong coincident IP resistivity and conductivity anomaly around 300 metres to the south of the outcropping mineralisation.
