Asian shares are mixed after the Bank of Japan adjusted its bond purchase policy but kept its negative benchmark interest rate unchanged. Tokyo and Sydney fell while Hong Kong, Seoul and Shanghai advanced. Markets in India and Thailand were closed for holidays. On Thursday, Wall Street's rally fizzled as the S&P 500 fell 0.6% and the Dow sank 0.7%. The Nasdaq fell 0.5%. Critics have been saying the market’s big recent rally has been too much, too fast and that rising expectations for a continued cooldown in inflation are not a certainty. Strong reports on the economy pushed yields higher in the bond market.
