Astronomers have been trying to identify and classify the first interstellar object to enter our solar system. They have argued that the object, called , is either an asteroid or a comet. Other scientists, including a respected theoretical physicist, thought that the object could be an alien devised probe or artifact. Astronomers at Arizona State University have found evidence that Oumuamua may actually be a chunk of a Pluto-like extrasolar planet.
