A transgender teenager and her parents are suing a Mississippi school district because they say officials told her not to wear a dress and heeled shoes to high school graduation. The federal lawsuit was filed Thursday. It demands the Harrison County School District allow the 17-year-old to wear what she wants for Saturday's graduation from Harrison Central High School. The American Civil Liberties Union says Harrison County School District Superintendent Mitchell King told the teenager’s mother that the girl “needs to wear pants, socks, and shoes like a boy." The school district's attorney, Wynn Clark, declined to comment Thursday. A hearing is set for Friday.
