Gang-rape survivor alleges rape by SI in UP’s Shahjahanpur

A 35-year-old woman, who went to a police station in UP’s Shahjahanpur district to file a complaint allegedly after being gang-raped by five men, later accused a sub-inspector of sexually assaulting her on pretext of filing the case. The alleged incident took place at Jalalabad police station on November 30. Additional director general of police (ADG) of Bareilly, Avinash Chandra, has ordered an inquiry on the complaint of the woman, who met him on Wednesday. Superintendent of police (city) Sanjay Kumar said that the “allegations are serious” and police are investigating it.
