(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 4 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez, on Sunday, stressed the importance of strengthening the Jordanian-Romanian relations, and building on them in various fields to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries.This came during a meeting with the Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu and an accompanying delegation, who are on an official visit to the Kingdom.Fayez highlighted the current economic challenges and the humanitarian and financial repercussions that Jordan is experiencing as a result of the regional situation and the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting tackled bilateral ties and the importance of joint cooperation to address the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the current regional situation, and means to achieve security and stability in the region.Fayez spoke about the Jordanian political position on the regional situation, especially on the Palestinian cause, stressing that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, always underlines that a just solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions, is the key to resolving all conflicts in the Middle East region, thereby guaranteeing the elimination of the forces of terrorism and extremism.He underlined Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in fighting terrorism and achieving peace and stability in the region, pointing to the pressure that the Syrian refugees have had on the Kingdom's resources and infrastructure. He called for increasing support for the Kingdom's so that it continues to fulfill its humanitarian duty.Fayez also pointed to the need to increase investment opportunities and strengthen the economic and trade partnership between the two friendly countries, stressing that Jordan has an attractive investment environment and great investment opportunities that are attractive to businessmen in many fields, including the tourism, public transport, medical and religious tourism and water sectors.The Romanian Foreign Minister pointed to the Romanian-Jordanian bilateral relations, describing them as "deep-rooted," especially in the political, economic and cultural aspects. He also commended the great development that Jordan is witnessing, and the role of Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in fighting terrorism and extremism, and working to achieve peace in the region.
