(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Istanbul: The State of Qatar, the Republic of Turkey and the United Nations announced the postponement of the Istanbul Conference on the Afghanistan Peace Process. In a joint statement issued yesterday, the three parties said they planned to hold a high level and inclusive conference from April 24-May 4 between representatives of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban in Istanbul to complement the negotiations that began in Doha last September, with the goal of achieving a sustainable and fair peace in Afghanistan.  The joint statement noted that in light of recent developments, and after intensive consultations with the parties involved, it was agreed to postpone the conference to a later date when conditions would be more conducive to making tangible progress. The statement added that Qatar, Turkey, and UN will continue their efforts with determination to establish peace in Afghanistan.   MENAFN22042021000063011010ID1101962843
