Irish schools to eliminate Catholic content, symbols (Catholic Herald)

Ireland’s public schools will gradually eliminate Catholic symbols as well as Catholic oversight of religious instruction, under a new government plan. Religious-education instruction will not focus on any one faith, and no religious events will be mandatory for students. A government spokesman said the new policies emphasize “the importance of catering for children of all religious and non-religious worldviews equally”.
