Many students look forward to big school activities like prom and graduation.

County schools are considering staying closed for the rest of the semester -- and it has some seniors especially devastated.

Action news now reporter ana torrea is live in redding... and explains... what this all means for the highly anticipated rites of passage -- like prom and graduation.

Students i spoke with say they don't want to be at home.

They want to be at school with their friends and in a classroom.

But that might not happen for the rest of the school year.

School events like prom, graduation... and spring plays are put on hold till further notice i spoke with superintendent victor hopper with the anderson union high school district.

He told me and while this is disappointing.

The safety of students and staff come first.

I feel the pain, as a father of a senior this year who was looking forward to her prom and graduation, the reality is that we have a pandemic on our hands and we have to do our part to lower that curve./ wanting something to do something for my school, i wanna get my grades, i wanna have a good opportunity for a good future.

With the whole school shut down, we cant get our grades up, everything is postponed.

# right now school districts in shasta county are prepping to do everything online... or with written packets for the rest of the semester once spring break ends.
