Thanking first responders

Saying thank you to first responders and medical staff.

Brooke schwieters was in west ashley early this morning with how folks are showing their appreciation.

No question much of the worth during the covid-19 era is falling on the shoulders of our doctors, nurses, medical staff across the globe and, of course, right here in the lowcountry.

That is exactly why the community is lending some outreach, lending a thank you to these medical staff workers.

They have hung signs along the outside walls of the drive through collection side here in west ashley to thank these men and women for their dedication.

And for good reason.

Just at collection site since opening just under three weeks ago, it has seen more -- around 3500 patients so far and musc has done around 18,000 telehealth screenings.

As far as those covid-19 positive cases go under musc it has got five inpatient and 169 outpatient patients as far as its triweekly report that just came out yesterday and as far as folks in the healthcare workforce under musc staff, they have confirmed 34 cases so far.

Now, as you mentioned musc preparing for a surge of patients and they need your help.

You could donate masks, protective eye wear, hand sanitizer and drop off at musc warehouse in north charleston.

If you are in need of a covid-19 test and utilize the west ashley drive through they just changed their hours.

They are working by appointments from 9:00 a.m.

To 6:00 p.m.
