Springfield schools prepare for remote learning

A survey will be sent out in the next few days for families to share what type of access their student has to technology and Internet connection.

The oregon department of education released plans for remote learnings for students across the state.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy found out what steps springfield is taking to make this transition as smooth as possible.

David: "we're taking the approach that we are here in this together.

That we are going to provide resources that work for our families and students at home."

The springfield school district is gearing up for the introduction of 'remote learning' for its students...leaving families wondering what this will look like for their children.

David: "we're looking at multiple platforms. we're looking at zoom, google, there's all kinds of virutal ways.

There's other ways as well such as phone calls, emails, other service, use of websites and other components of web."

But as one springfield mother of a first grade student says...her plan is to 'go with the flow.'

"through their communication they're making it clear that they're not making any quick decisions so that they can ensure that every student is being cared for in their education and making sure they have the same access or equittable access to everything.

Gray said that a survey was sent out families about their child's internet and technology access...she said it is relieving to know that there is a plan in place to help those in need.

"i do worry about those students who have no access or internet or their parents are continuing to have to work because there's just not another choice.

Those things."

Beginning on april 6, educational material will be given out to students...with the official*launch on the 13th.
