Welcome back..here on fox 55, saturdays are for the seniors..

Every weekend we spotlight local senior athletes whose season were cut short or canceled due to the pandemic..

Tonight, we turn our attention to the track, as our petar hood honors former northrop star tionna brown... narr: tionna brown is one of those rare few that's born with afterburners..

?nat pop- ook at her, holy correct.

Brown burst onto the track scene at 12 she won three gold medals in the u-s junior olympics.

And by age 16, she was an i-h-s-a-a state champion after brining home the title in the 200 meter dash as just a sophomore at kokomo high school..tionna brown: remember i was smiling across the line, because at kokomo, i the first girl to ever win a state title individually.

That was the best feeling of my life, because it felt like all my hard work had finally paid off.arr: that would be the last time tionna took the track as a wildkat.

A few months later, brown became a bruin after moving to fort wayne and transferring to northrop..brown: was kind of nervous.

But once i got here and i started meeting people, and like meeting the team and stuff, then like, i started to gain a bond with the team, and it started to start gun?narr: after acclimating to her new surroundings, brown made her lone season at northrop a memorable one, leading her team to an s-a-c championship and a sectional title...brown: hat was probably the be team i e ever ran for.

Everyone was working together and kind of pushed each other.

At kokomo, it was kind of like a one man thing.

I had other athletes around me, but we weren on the same page.

I feel like coming here narr: invidiually, tionna claimed sectional and regional championships in the 100 & 200 .

But thanks in large part to a nagging hamstring injury, she came up just short at state, leaving brown with a big chip on her shoulder heading into what was supposed to be her senior season... brown: felt like i had a point to prove this year.

Coming in with an indoor season, i e never really had an indoor see on because i always played basketball, so i didn play basketball this year and i got a chance to actually have an indoor season.

I kind of felt like this was going to be the year i was going to do a lot of good thi gs, but it didn happen that way.arr: but, although her high school career d end the way she had hoped, brown still has a lot to look forward to.

Tionna is set to run coliegately at alabama state, where shel join one of the most succesful track and field programs in the country.

In fort wayne, petar hood, fox 55 sports... 3 it definitely
