In response to Butte County being placed on the state's watchlist on July 25th, Mayor Ann Schwab called a special meeting to discuss the city's future measures of the pandemic.
But first - new tonight... chico mayor ann schwab called for a special meeting of the city council to deal with issues related to the pandemic and butte county's placement on the state watchlist.

This meeting was called in response to butte county being placed on the state's watchlist over the weekend.
And only topics on the agenda could strictly be discussed.
Protestors organized outside city hall earlier today before the special meeting, demanding for a more interactive way to participate in the city's decisions.
"we have put with this for like three months now, trying to figure out a way to allow us back in city council meetings, and we get excuse after excuse after excuse."
And the council agreed that hearing people's voices is necessary "this should be something that should be addressed, move forward, get the public engaged however possible that can be made electronically, physically, however -- all of the above."
The city unanimously passed a motion that allows for the public to engage with the city council via electronic and online devices.
But as for allowing people in, the council says the order is flexible.
"but this order as worded does allow the flexibility, or we should say it does not have the ability to have people present, but it does have the flexibility to then still allow electronic only and have a pure web-x based."
Another motion that passed was the discussion of issuing a face- covering enforcement throughout chico.
