The skincare influencer shares advice for fighting mask-induced breakouts.

Aloha, my name is Hyram and I'm a content creatorwho is obsessed with all things skincare. And I'm gonna be teaching you how to get rid of mask acneor what it's commonly called now, maskne.Wearing masks all the time has made it really difficultfor this specific area of the faceto recover from all the stuff that is going throughbecause let's face it, you get sweaty under there, there's bacteria, there's dirt buildup, the mask is rubbing against your skin causing irritation. It's just not a pretty environment, okay. And acne is likely showing up in that areafor multiple reasons. So how do you get rid of and prevent maskne? My first recommendation is don't wear makeupor at least don't wear makeup underneath your mask. The reason why is, like I said before, there's lots of sweat, bacteria buildup. And when it mixes with the makeup,it's essentially a breeding ground for bacteriaand just waiting for acne to happen. And also, do you really want the makeup being transferredonto the mask and then back onto your face? That's kinda gross.

No, thank you.So I just recommend avoiding makeup in that area.Number two, prepare for when you have to wear a mask. One key component of getting rid of acneis knowing how to prevent it in the first place. And when you have bacteria on your face, those are disruptions in your skin's moisture barrier, and you want to make surethat you're healing your skin's moisture barrierso that it can reinforce itself and protect itfrom that bacteria as much as possible. So I recommend before the day starts, overnight to use a hydrating cream, that's really going to be thick, heavier, and making sure that you're really moisturized. This is gonna help to repair that moisture barrier.Number three, don't hammer your skin with treatments.I know it's tempting to see breakouts on your faceand to want to go in with a bunch of drying lotionsand exfoliating treatments and scrubs. But honestly, that's the last thing your skin needs.Your skin is in low health right now.The moisture barrier is wreckedand skin healing doesn't comewith using the strongest things possible. It comes with gentle daily care,so I recommend reducing the amount of skincare productsthat you use to minimize the sensitivityand irritation as much as possibleand just really focus on moisturizing that area.Tip number four, use single use masks when you can, cloth masks are great, but unless you're washing them every single timethat you use them, there's going to be major bacteria buildup. And in addition, it's not the best way to protectfrom COVID spread either. And then tip number five, when you touch your face, make sure your hands are clean. This is just a good general rule overall, especially when your skin has been inthat compromised environment, where there is bacteria, sweat, and dirt buildup. You want to make sure that your hands are as cleanas possible so that you're not introducingeven more problems to the area.I really hope these tips helpand if you wanna learn more about skincare, feel free to check me out on YouTube or TikTok.My name is Hyram and stay safe out there everyone.
