Kay ivey announced just minutes ago she is extending her state's mask order until the first friday in october.

"i wish we didn't have to wear masks, but we're seeing significant drops in our hospitalizations and daily positive covid- 19 numbers."

The extension with the mask mandate does go through the labor day holiday weekend where public health experts are waiting to see if there's an increase in cases after that.

Alabama's department of public health reported more than six hundred cases 25 new deaths were also in the report since mid-march, alabama reported more than 110- thousand cases nearly two thousand people died from the virus.
