Whitfield County schools moving back to more in person classes.

Schools move into their next phase of reopening.

They are transitioning students away from remote learning.

This comes despite an uptick of coronavirus cases in whitfield county.

The plan involves high school students going from two days a week in class to four, starting october 26th.

Superintendent judy gilreath says getting students back on a normal schedule has been the school district's goal since the beginning, and emphasized that plenty of precautions are being taken.

"we continue to be very dilligent.

We quarantine students and teachers who have had possible exposure.

We have had some cases but i think they have been relatively small for the size of our student body."

Gilreath says that teachers have been affected by having to teach both online and in-person, calling the extra workload exhausting.

Once back in school, students will be required to wear masks when not social distancing, and will eat lunch on alternating schedules in
