Grant to boost AmTrak revival plan along Gulf Coast

The Southern Rail Commission has received another federal grant to help restore Gulf Coast passenger rail service. The Federal Railroad Administration has granted $5.45 million through its Restoration and Enhancement (R&E) Grants Program to fund operating expenses for the first and second years of service along the restored rail line from New Orleans to Mobile.
