Now is the time to listen and take action

When news of George Floyd’s death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer hit, I felt an overwhelming range of emotions.  Anger, frustration, sadness. But mostly, a compulsion to do something.  As Floyd’s funeral came through Houston, the city came together to lend their respect and call for a collective change. Seeing people of all races and backgrounds come out in support gave me a sense of pride in our community. But it also made me sad, because we should not even be here. We shouldn’t…
