Scottish group introduce their widescreen new single...

Scotland's *The Byson Family* return with new single 'Lean In And Love Me'.

Frontman Phil Campbell might well be familiar to some readers, thanks in part to his role in cult Scottish group The Temperance Movement.

A new venture with a new cast, The Byson Family released their debut album 'Kick The Traces' in January, a record that excelled with its astute, classic-leaning songwriting.

Released on Assai Records - the in-house imprint for the record shops of the same name - it swiftly sold out, with The Byson Family becoming a hot name for Scottish fans.

Townsend Music/Absolute Label Services intend to release an extended version of the album, with five brand new songs.

'Lean In And Love Me' appears on this new edition of the record, and it's a song that consciously reaches outwards, to when social distancing is but a memory. Phil Campbell explains: “As people aren’t allowed to be together, I thought it would be great to say, lean in closer and get a hug. It’s all about needing to keep going, which is what the band was experiencing at the time...”

"Christian sent me the song after he was up all night working on it. We were just into lock down and he said it was called 'Lean In And Love Me' because one day we’ll all be able to cuddle each other again and it’s what people really need to hear right now. From a personal point of view, I think it was Chris and I who needed a cuddle the most…!"

"The song came out of a weird and unsettling period of time and the verse lyrics contain this feeling (Hear me til you bleed me silent / together we are running in the night / hold me til you’re less than lies / the undisputed King of Vanity and Indecision). I recorded the vocal in my son’s bedroom last summer with shades and a bandana like Bono from Wishaw..."

The video for 'Lean In And Love Me' was shot in the studio, and it gets up close to the Scottish group - a primer before their upcoming UK tour.

Tune in now.
