It's out on July 9th...

*The Goon Sax* are set to release new album 'Mirror II' on July 9th.

The end of the band's 'We're Not Talking' era saw Louis Foster decamp to Berlin, leaving behind the group's native Brisbane.

This shift seems to brought about an overhaul in his songwriting, with The Goon Sax introducing fresh elements to their music.

Out on July 9th through the fine people at Matador Records, new album 'Mirror II' was largely recorded at Bristol's Invada Studios, owned by Portishead's Geoff Barrow.

New single 'In The Stone' launches this daring new era, a song set in Berlin and finding the songwriter investigating his new surroundings.

He explains: "We were both exploring ourselves - accepting each other's changes and celebrating flux - but also reckoning with the complicated need for a solid sense of self and the person we loved."

"Musically the song was influenced by what was playing in the background of our conversations which often took place in Ubers, supermarkets, outside parties etc. So it probably bears more of a subconsciously absorbed modern pop influence than anything else we’ve done as a band."

A dose of avant-pop that retains the free-thinking virtuosity of their opening two albums while adding daring new elements, 'In The Stone' is a real thrill.

Tune in now.
