2 years of Covid: Why some states show higher numbers

It’s been two years since the first Covid-19 case was recorded in India. Through this period — and three waves of the pandemic — Maharashtra and most of the southern states have consistently recorded more cases and deaths than other states of the country, particularly those in the north.
