Kalapani row still simmers in Uttarakhand border town

In the backdrop of Nepalese PM Sher Bahadur Deuba's visit to India, the tensions that erupted between India and Nepal -- when India built the 75km-long Lipulekh Road leading to the Kailash Mansarovar yatra route in May 2020, and Nepal responded by claiming Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura (areas in India) as part of its territory -- have more or less died down by now in border areas. However, Dharchula town in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district, which is located near the India-Nepal border, has been reporting recurring incidents of unrest.
