Supreme Court allows staggered payment of OROP arrears in ‘national interest’

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed with the Union government that payment of Rs 28,000 crore towards ‘One-Rank-One-Pension’ (OROP) arrears for nearly 21 lakh ex-servicemen at one go could impact defence preparedness and allowed staggered payment of arrears with the last instalment payable by February 28, 2024.
