New mosque in Ayodhya to be named after Prophet’s father

Can a place of worship born out of a bitter and violent religious dispute become a site of inclusivity and reconciliation? Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), which will build Babri Masjid’s replacement 25km from the old site, hopes so. To start with, they won’t name it after Babur the conqueror. Instead, it will be called Muhammad Bin Abdullah Masjid after the Prophet’s father. The idea is to make the 11-acre site at Dhannipur village a multicultural place of ‘dawa’ (medicine) and ‘dua’ (prayer).
