FM counters opposition, says no cut in funds for farmers, poor

Sitharaman rejected the opposition’s claim that govt has “cut allocation” for farmers, poor and tribals in the 2024-25 Budget Estimate (BE). She cited data to show a decline in rural unemployment rate and an increase in women's labor force participation. She criticized the opposition for treating the Global Hunger Index report as gospel truth and questioning the National Family Health Survey report.
