Hydroxyurea, a drug used to treat sickle cell anaemia, will now be accessible in India for Rs 600 per vial, a fraction of the cost of imported versions. Unlike the global brands priced at around Rs 77,000 per vial, needing specific storage at 2-8 degrees Celsius, the Indian variant by Delhi-based Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. remains stable at room temperature.
