UN mission, Lebanese army ends 5-day live fire drill

(MENAFN) A report by the UNIFIL said that on Friday, Jun. 11 the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese Armed Forces ended a five-day live fire droll close to the UNIFIL's center in the southern city of Naqoura. The report noted that the Steel Storm exercise, headed by UNIFIL's Force Commander's Reserve and carried out between both forces two times a year, included armored assets, machine guns and small weapons live fire. The UNIFIL peacekeepers from Finland, France, Ghana, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Ireland, Italy India, Indonesia, Nepal and Spain took part in the drill. Under Security Council Resolution 1701, the UN mission helps the Lebanese Armed Forces in bringing security and stability to southern Lebanon over arranged activities like exercises and other methods.
