UPDATE: Police appeal for help to identify witness to Torquay incident

Police investigating allegations of a sexual assault on a woman in Torquay have appealed for the public help to identify people who may be able to assist with enquiries.

Previously we appealed to identify a man walking [pictured] and two people in a vehicle. The two in people in the vehicle have since been identified and spoken to by officers.

The incident was reported have taken place on East Street at the junction of St Efrides Road at around 1.20am-1.30am on Sunday 9 August.

Police have charged a man from Torquay in connection to this matter. He remains remanded in custody at this time.

Investigating officer DC Martin Key, said: “Whilst we have charged a man in connection to this incident, we are urgently trying to identify a potential witness who may have information vital to the investigation.

“The man pictured is believed to be a white male who was walking from Laburnum Row, onto East Street in the direction of Torquay police station, at the time of the incident.

“If you believe you know this man, or if indeed you think this may be you, please contact police on 101.”

Anyone who knows the man pictured is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/065657/20.
