Alexia Putellas won the women's Ballon d'Or award for the first time on Monday after an outstanding season with Barcelona and Spain. Canadians Christine Sinclair, Ashley Lawrence and Jessie Fleming were in the mix while Lionel Messi won a record-extending seventh men's honour.
