Bank of Canada hikes interest rate to 5%

The Bank of Canada raised its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 5 per cent, the highest in 22 years. The increase is the second hike to the central bank’s rate since it ended its pause in June as data showed the labour market remained tight and inflation pressures high.
