Russian lawmakers vote to scrap ratification of nuclear test ban treaty

Russia's parliament has passed a bill revoking Russia's ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), fulfilling President Vladimir Putin's wish to "mirror" the United States' position on the treaty. Russia says it will not resume nuclear testing unless the US does, but experts are concerned it may be moving towards a test that would escalate tensions with the West.
