Gwyneth Paltrow's Website Goop: Teens Need More Sleep

Gwyneth Paltrow is an actress with a wellness website called Goop, and as a mother of adolescents, it appears that she is tackling issues affecting her own kids.

This time it is all about late school times.????Dr. Rafael Pelayo, a professor at the Stanford Center for Sleep Sciences and Medicine was interviewed by Goop about the 75% of adolescents who are sleep deprived, and California legislation SB328, which he supported and would have made school start times for middle and high school students to be after 8:30.????Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the bill, but Pelayo is still speaking out for kids to have more sleep.????He discussed a school in Virginia that pushed start times back and quote “It turned out that when they made the school start time later, there were fewer teenage car accidents.” There are also benefits to mental health and test scores.????It’s not just this one expert opinion though.

The American Academy of Pediatrics made a statement in 2014 saying that school should not start before 8:30.????The California bill will be reintroduced, and maybe students will get to sleep in...??
