He's launching a NEW inquiry into the ORIGINS of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.

A source tells Reuters leading the investigation of the INVESTIGATION… will be U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham.

Barr is tapping Durham to examine whether the FBI made a MISTAKE when it got a special warrant to conduct SURVEILLANCE on Trump adviser Carter Page during the 2016 race.

Reuters has learned Barr is personally working with FBI Director Christopher Wray, CIA Director Gina Haspel and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats to review the intelligence gathering techniques used then.

TRUMP on Tuesday said he had not ordered Barr to open the inquiry, but he was glad that Barr did.

I didn't know it.

But I think it's a great thing that he did it.

I saw it last night.

And they want to look at how that whole hoax got started.

It was a hoax.

And you know what?

I am so proud of our Attorney General, that he is looking into it." The move comes amid a wave of investigations by Democrats into Trump's own financial dealings and actions in office.
