A man serving an 80-year sentence for the murder of his mother and 6-year-old half-sister in 2013 was found dead Tuesday in his prison cell, the Madison County coroner said Wednesday.

The madison county coroner says 28-year old david rodenbarger died of asphyxia due to hanging.

He was found with a bedsheet around his neck at pendleton correctional facility tuesday.

The delphi man pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the deaths of his mother, michelle haskins, and 6- year old half- sister jillian haskins.

Both were stabbed to death in their monticello home in february 2013.

Rodenbarger had been diagnosed and treated for schizophrenia before the murders.
