Man charged with murder in Jackson County

We now know the identity of the man accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend today in jackson county.

36 year old eric scott is behind bars tonight.

He faces a murder charge.

It happened off county road 36 in hollywood.

Waay31's megan reyna learned what led up to his arrest ... and how neighbors are reacting this afternoon -- police were called out to this home for a shots fired call.

When they got here the suspect refused to come out... so they actually fired gas cannisters into this home.

It took about an hour to finally get eric scott into custody.

When police got inside the mobile home they found a woman who had been shot and killed.

Investigators say scott and the victim were in a relationship.

I spoke to neighbors nearby who say they the people living there kept to themselves.

So they were shocked tonight to hear about this death.

According to online court records -- scott has a criminal history with several drug charges.

The victims name has not been released yet -- as family is being notified.

Homicide detectives... the coroner all on scene - gathering as much evidence as they can.

But the sheriffs office tells me this is an isolated incident - and no one nearby is in any danger.

Reporting in hollywood mr waay31 news waay31 learned scott's brother - kelcey scott was also arrested.

Officers say he showed up to the scene and refused to leave.
