Tupelo city leaders have come up with a covid-19 work plan... council members met tonight to discuss items on that plan and express any concerns... w-t-v-a's kayla thompson is live with what this plan consists of and how it will affect city workers and us... the city says they are going to continue to provide services but there will have to be a few changes for workers... "it's definitely not a vacation this is a serious time."

Mayor shelton stressed that this will not be a vacation for city workers but anyone who can work from home will... "everyone that works from home will be expected to do their job and they're going to be expected to get to wherever it is if its city hall or public works and the supervisor needs them they're going to be expected to get there immediately and then they may be able to go home."

This is just one of the things mayor shelton announced in the work session... for tupelo water and light, the (2) 3 man crews will operate as usual and other employees will be on stanby... and customers will be allowed in the office lobby by appointment only... for public works 13 employees will be around to maintain operations... municipal court will have two people in the office monday- friday but the work program is shut down until further notice... and the fire department will not allow birthday parties or visitor activities through arpil 9th... stand up city hall will stay open from 8-5 monday through friday but mayor shelton says it's best to call before you come... "so where you would otherwise come in here to get a permit on demand you will likely have to schedule an appointment to get that we are still going to provide the city services it's just that we'll have to be flexible and understanding that things will be done differently" although these changes may be an adjustment...peo ple say they are glad the city is doing something to protect everyone... "i think you have to put rules down and say this is the way it has to be to keep you safe."

Ward 5 city councilman buddy palmer says the city will continue to adapt to things as changes continue to happen... "we just have to be so very very careful and proactive during this time."
